UNDERGRADUATE THESIS

All undergraduate students at the American University of Florida are required to complete a thesis, approximately 40-50 pages in length, as part of their degree requirements. Students collaborate closely with a faculty member who specializes in their field to develop a research focus tailored to their specific academic interests. The thesis proposal, which includes the research context, problem statement, hypotheses, objectives, methodology, data collection, narrative structure, and preliminary bibliography, must receive approval from the supervising faculty member, a second field specialist, and the Undergraduate Dean. The objective is to create a well-researched, analytical, and documented contribution to the student’s chosen area of study. The thesis should reflect a strong knowledge base, critical thinking skills, familiarity with research tools, and clear exposition. The final work is expected to be of high enough quality to present to others, helping graduates transition into the professional world after completing their degree.
