Proctored Exams

To make your success more certain!

Proctored Exams

At the American University of Florida, students are required to select a proctor to monitor their final exams for all degree programs. As a student, it is your responsibility to choose a proctor who will be available to oversee your final exams. Once approved, this individual will serve as your designated proctor for the entirety of your degree program. The chosen proctor will be required to complete and submit a Proctor Application and Agreement, which will be kept on file by the University for the duration of your enrollment. If you need to change proctors at any time during your enrollment, a new Proctor Application and Agreement must be submitted to the University administration.

How do I select a Proctor?

Acceptable proctors for the American University of Florida include school teachers, principals, librarians, clergy members, human resources officers, and workplace supervisors. A proctor should be someone who holds a position of integrity; therefore, family members or friends are not eligible to serve in this role. Students must select a trusted individual who can reliably proctor exams according to the student’s course schedule. The chosen proctor must meet the following guidelines:

  • The proctor should have access to the internet and email to receive communications and files from the University.
  • The proctor should live near the student and be able to monitor the exam without interruption in a distraction-free environment. The exam location and time should be mutually agreed upon by both the student and the proctor to ensure a successful exam experience.
  • The proctor must be comfortable in a position of authority and capable of maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
