Refund Policy

The American University of Florida ensures that tuition rates at the time of registration remain fixed as long as students are actively and continuously enrolled in their program. If a student cancels their enrollment within three calendar days following the signing of the Enrollment Agreement (Full Refund Period), they will receive a full refund with no further obligations.

The official withdrawal date from the university is the last day of recorded attendance. Students are required to notify the registrar in writing either before or on the date of their complete withdrawal.

The University guarantees that any student who withdraws will receive a refund in accordance with the refund policy. No administrative or withdrawal fees are charged for withdrawing. Refunds are calculated based on the following criteria:

  • Refunds are issued in full within thirty (30) days of the withdrawal date.
  • If a student cancels more than three (3) business days after signing the contract or has completed no more than five (5) percent of the instructional time, they are entitled to a refund of at least ninety-five percent of tuition.
  • Students who complete more than five (5) percent but no more than ten (10) percent of the instructional time are entitled to a refund of at least ninety (90) percent of tuition.
  • Students who complete more than ten (10) percent but no more than twenty-five (25) percent of the instructional time are entitled to a refund of at least seventy-five (75) percent of tuition.
  • Students who complete more than twenty-five (25) percent but no more than fifty (50) percent of the instructional time are entitled to a refund of at least fifty (50) percent of tuition.
  • If a student completes more than fifty (50) percent of the instructional time, the institution is not required to issue a refund.

The University has a policy in place for extenuating circumstances, such as prolonged illness, death, or other situations that prevent the completion of a course or program. This policy ensures a process for determining a settlement that is fair and reasonable for both the student and the University.

If the American University of Florida cancels or modifies a program of study or course (including time or location) in a way that prevents a student from continuing, the University will:

  • Make timely arrangements to accommodate the needs of the affected student.
  • Refund all money paid by the student for the program or course if equitable alternative arrangements, as determined by the NPEC, are not possible.
